On January 22, 2021, the Quezon City Government thru its Migration Services under the Public Employment Service Office (QC-PESO MSD) together with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) conducted a ceremony to award eligible OFW beneficiaries with program assistance. The awarding ceremony was graced by our Honorable Quezon City Mayor Josefina “Joy” Belmonte and OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac, along with other officials from OWWA including NCR-Director Ma. Theresa B. Capa, Deputy Administrator for Reintegration Faustino Sabarez III NCR Reintegration Unit Head Marco Atolin Santos and Quezon City officials led by QC-PESO Head Rogelio L. Reyes and Migration Services Division Head Djohanna Delia Ravelo together with the OFWs who personally received the program assistance.

Immediately after the ceremony, 16 Quezon City resident OFWs were granted Balik-Pinas Balik-Hanapbuhay (BPBH) program assistance, a package of livelihood support/assistance intended to provide immediate relief to returning distressed and displaced OFWs with cash grants to serve as start-up capital or additional capital for their livelihood projects.

In addition, 14 QC resident OFWs were granted assistance thru the program “Sa Pinas Ikaw ang Ma’am / Sir (SPIMS)”, an OFW reintegration convergence program which provides opportunities for OFW who are Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) passers to acquire plantilla teaching positions in their preferred area. In addition, they were also provided with cash assistance to serve as capital to purchase teaching equipment.
