As the continuing support of the Local Government of Quezon City to the migrants’ sector, the Quezon City Public Employment Service Office through its Migration Services Division conducted series of activities during the 1st Quarter of the year 2022 promoting the migrants’ services such as:
OFW Children Left Behind Profiling Activity
To further assess the impacts of migration and to extend local services to the children of migrants, the QCPESO Migration Services Division conducted a series of profiling activities to the children left behind by their parent overseas workers to all the districts of Quezon City in order to generate new programs and provide existing necessary assistances to the said beneficiaries.
DOLE Workers Association Registration Assistances
To reinforce the coordination of the Overseas Filipino Workers & their Family Circles (OFCs) to local and national government agencies, QCPESO-MSD assisted all active OFC chapters in Quezon City regarding the registration of Workers Association as Accredited Co-Partners of DOLE to establish legal identities in their respective OFW organizations in order to comply the requirements of availing services available for group or organization grants.
Overseas Filipino Workers and their Families Circles Chapter Formations
To cope up with the rapid growth of Migration and Development, the QCPESO continues to organize the establishment of migrant groups particularly the OFC resulting to stronger coordination between the OFW organizations with migrant-related agencies, faster information dissemination, organized facilitation of services provisions, easier monitoring of group and individual statuses of the migrant sector and quicker response to needs and wants.
General Assemblies to existing OFC Chapters, Barangay OFW Helpdesk Trainings
For existing OFW organizations our office conducted a series of general assemblies to maintain the activeness of the chapter so that recent OFW returnees can be admitted to the said existing chapters so that the returnee can gain knowledge on what are the assistances he / she can avail.
Safe Regular Orderly Migration Seminar
to instill the migrants’ sector the value of state sovereignty, responsibility-sharing, non-discrimination, human rights, strengthening community coordination, and recognizing cooperative approaches needed to optimize the overall benefits of migration and to equip them with knowledges on the advantages and disadvantages of migration to support them in making smart decisions in relevance to migration and their development as well as to develop the local services and inter-agency coordination in catering migrant related services.
Ocular Visit to established Urban Farms in Quezon City
For OFWs who aspire to engage into sustainable food livelihood and start business on selling ornamental plants. The Quezon City Local Government conducted an ocular visits to the existing urban gardens to the attendees, this instill the participants the value of sustaining food resources and the opportunities it brings as an alternative source of income through livelihood business.
