QC PESO through its Migrants Resource Center, celebrated International Women’s Month with an Oath Taking Activity of OFW Workers Association held last March 18, 2022 at the QC Risen Garden. With the theme: We Make CHANGE Work for WOMEN: Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran, the celebration highlights the contribution of women particularly OFW Family Circle women leaders for their commitment and assistance to fellow OFWs during this post pandemic recovery period.

QC PESO Manager Rogelio L. Reyes welcomed the guests and encouraged to take advantage of the Alagang QC program and avail of such benefits for the City’s women constituents.

An inspirational video message by the Hon. Mayor JOY Belmonte was then presented acknowledging the role of women migrant workers and their contributions, particularly their support and leadership towards fellow women migrant workers, and within OFC groups.

Engr. Martin Jequinto of DOLE awarded the certificates of the DOLE Registered – accredited co-partner OFW Family Circle Chapters and afterwards led the grand Oath taking of these OFCs from Brgy. Bagong Silangan, Batasan Hills, Commonwealth, Holy Spirit, Nova Proper, Paltok, Pasong Tamo, Payatas, Tandang Sora and Tatalon.

Director Ellene Sana of Center for Migrant Advocacy, Phils. Inc. talked about Global Compact for Safe, Regular, and Orderly Migration. Afterwards, Mr. Wilson Bautista from Landbank, highly encouraged the guests to save via OFBank.

Help desks from various offices of the Quezon City Government including Quezon City Civil Registry Department, Quezon City Health Department Official, Quezon City Gender and Development Council, QC Small Business and Cooperatives Development Promotions Office, SOCIAL SERVICES DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT OFFICE and partner agencies DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT – QUEZON CITY, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – QUEZON CITY, OWWA Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Center for Migrant Advocacy, Phils. Inc., OFBank Overseas Representatives, Spices and Foodmix House/Ultima Entrepinoy Center and Negoskwela World were also invited serving as a one stop shop to further promote their available services for women migrant workers, displaced women workers.

Almost 200 participants came and availed of the free medical consultation, dental check-up and freebies from the City’s services booths.

To date, QC PESO have assisted twelve (12) OFW Family Circle Chapters and registered as accredited Co-Partners with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
